CHEMISTRY TO AID
OKLA MILK-BEEF
PRODUCERS
To aid producers of milk and
beef obtain maximum results
from feeds especially roughages
such as hay and ensilage the
state department of agricul-
ture's chemistry division will
make nutrition tests on'individ-
ual forage samples Jack M
Cornelius Jr board president
said Friday
The project is a cooperative
agreement of the state agency
and the dairy department and
the extension service Oklahoma
State University
"In many instances feeding
formulas have been based on
the average analysis of various
types of roughage" Cornelius
explained "but with these tests
made on actual samples the
producer is feeding nutriton-
ists can determine if the ration
is adequate to produce the de-
sired results"
The chemistry division will
make crude protein and fiber
analyses and also determine
the amount of dry matter in the
sample Test results will then
be sent to the extension service
for evaluation Then producers
will be advised if the rations
are adequate for their needs or
if supplements or other items
should be added to the ration
It is anticipated that few
tests will be made until hay is
cut or ensilage is stored later
this summer or early fall
1County agents are being in-
structed to collect the initial
samples and they will be for-
warded to Oklahoma City for
testing
A program to analyse sam-

334 ON E BOND
EXTENSIONS NOW
"The latest extention offered
on the oldst Series E Savings
Bonds at a full 334 per cent an-
nual interest rate is a boon to
the thousands of people in this
county who still hold bonds
bought between May 1941 and
May 1949" Heydn Hensley
Texhoma Savings Bond Chair-
man said today
He referred to the recent an-
nouncement by the Treasury
dealing with E bonds that be-
gin to reach the end of their ex-
tended maturty in May of this
year This second 10-year exten-
tion was promised back in 1959
but the terms and interest rate
were not announced at that
time Under the new ruling
these bonds will return 334 per
cent each year compounded
semi-annually based on their
current cash -value (well over
face value)
"All of these bonds bought be-
tween May 1949 originally drew
29 per cent interest" Hensley
continued "In the first exten-
sion they have been earning
from 290 to 347 per cent if held
to extended maturity
"Now those loyal bond own-
ers who have kept their E bonds
for the full 20 years will be re-
warded with a full 334 per cent
return EACH year on the full
current value of their bonds
This should encourage them to
reap the benefits of this high
rate for another full 10 years"
Mr Hensley said nearly $15
billion in the 1941-49 E bonds
are still outstanding in the coun-
try as a whole He estimated
about $200 million worth are
owned by people in Oklahoma

Either of these Corvairs would make you a wonderful traveling companion (Any of
Corvair's ten budget-priced models would for that matter) The Lakewood Station
Wagon earns its keep with a solid 68 cubic feet of cargo space 10 of it under that lockable
hood And the Monza Club Coupe with its bucket-type front seats lets you in on some
ultra-comfortable driving
And they both handle and brake and 'perform beautifully (Proof of the pudding is
the way the '61 Corvair manhandled the recent Canadian Winter Rally winning out-
right and taking the first five places in its class in this rugged 1265-mile
test) Look 'em over at your dealer's And if you can't decide which one F"1"Jé'Oritair
