BILBAO Spain April 23—Three
British freighters brought millions
of pounds of food to hungry Bilbao
today under the protective guns
of the giant battle cruiser Hood
and two destroyers
I watched through field glasses
at Galea Point at the entrance to
Bilbao Bay as the ships the Stan-
brook MacGregor and Hamsterley
steamed slowly up to the three-
mile limit of Spanish territorial
waters
Nearby I saw the looming hood
with its 15-inch guns and two little
British destroyers patrolling
It appeared that they were there
to prevent an attack outside the
three-mile limit by the rebel bat-
tleship Espana and two other rebel
warships which moved up menac-
ingly As the three British freighters
entered Spanish territorial waters
I saw the Basque loyalist govern-
ment warships Vizcaya and Guipuz-
coa go out and take over the pro-
tection job

The rebel warships steamed off
while a patrol of loyalist merchant
ships remained watching at the
entry to the port

PARIS April 23--Premier Leon
Blum Intimated today that he would
Just as soon people forgot that he
was an'anthar 25 years ago He in-
timated also that his views on
women and marriage had changed
The occasion was the publication
In Great Britain of a translation
of his treatise of 1912 on marriage
Reports from London are that it is
a best seller
Blum wrote as a man of the world
of 40 years of age relating for pos-
terity how he had sowed his wild
oats It is in its 20th edition in
France For ten years hardly a
dozen copies a year were sold un-
til last year when he became pre-
mier and soles skyrocketed
Foe of Love
In the book discoursing on means
of finding happiness in marriage
Blum argued that no love match
ever succeeds He wrote that a man
should sow as many wild Oats as
possible before marriage and there-
by increase Inc chance that the
marriage would succeed
With Gallic frankness he recorded
what he said and what ste said and
what they did when he went walk-
ing with girls'as a young man about
Paris He wrote also a code for lucky
marriages
1 Don't marry for love
2 The best marrying ages are for
women 30 for men 35
3 Reciprocal love never lasts for
ever so don't love your wife too
much
Just No Hope
4 Marriages made in a bank or a
lawyers office are no good because
arranged marriages are based on
equality of wealth and social status
5 Marriages between girls of 20
and men twice or thrice their age
are deplorable because the men are
too experienced for their fledgling

By United Press
WASHINGTON April 23---The
justice department today filed suit
in the Federal District Court for
the southern district of New York
seeking dissolution of the Alumi-
num Co of America on a charge
of monopolistic control
Former Treasury Secretary Art-
drew E Mellon a number of mem-
bers of his family and officials of
tho aluminum company and its
subsidiaries were named in the
proceedings
At t or n e y General Homer S
Cummings in announcing the suit
said the petition asked for a re-
arrangement of the companys
property "so as to break its monopo-
listic control"
Cite Price Advance
The Aluminum Co of America
25 of its subsidiary and affiliated
companies and 36 of its officers
directors and stockholders are
named as defendants Cummings
said
Cummings cited the action of the
company on March 1 1937 in ad-
vancing the carlot price of virgin
Ingot aluminum as the most re-
cent act of "oppressive and unrea-
sonable price fixing"
It was alleged that this advance
was made in the face of an in-
crease in earnings from $9571206
in 1935 to $20866936 in 1936 This
amounted to an increase in coin
