Motorists driving down Lindsey Street
Tuesday might have laughed at the two
women holding job wanted signs, but
Tammy Coffman and Vicki Tollett are
among 126,900 Oklahomans who need
jobs.
Coffman and Tollett said they were
holding signs in hopes that an employer
with job vacancies would consider hiring
them.
‘‘We are serious,” they said.
Coffman, from Oklahoma City, said
she has been laid off from two previous
jobs due to lack of business. She is try-

and her husband, an OU student pursu-
ing a degree in Spanish and French.
Tollett, from Freeport, Texas, worked

before she had to go back to Texas. She
said she could not get her job back when
she returned to Norman.
“The job market here is very bad,”
Coffman said. “The employment ads in

By 2 p.m. the women had been stand-
ing at their posts for four hours. Tollett
said they had one offer during that time.

opening in Sooner Fashion Mall.
“We are going to stand here until
