MONEY.
Several millions of plain, hard-work-
ing, honest folk of the West have saved
a few hundred dollars each during the
last three years. Several hundred
thousand others have boon saving
something from their weekly or month-
ly incomes for many years. In most
eases this saving has meant sacrifice.
Now comes a brief period of high
prices which means that the value ot
their savings has been cut one-half.
In othor words the dollar a thrifty,
patriotic man saved some years ago
is worth little more than fifty centB
compared to what he could have
bought with thut dollar when ho put
it aside.
If the man who saved a dollar
spends it now he is throwing his mon
ey away. He is following the foolish
example of the man who buys sound
stocks and, because thef fall a few
points, becomes panic stricken and
sells when his securities are below
what he paid for them. Rather he
buys more and holds them.
That is exactly what the wise folk
who have saved are doing and must
do. They must not touch their sav-
ings but rather must ndd to them.
Per the valuo of a dollar is going to
rise. In other words, prices are going
back to normal.
Hold your savings, be they in cash
Liberty Bonds, or War Savings Stamps.
Keep on buying War Savings Stamps.

President Wilson is talking directly

Mr. Knox ought to reprimand the
American army and navy for having
inflicted a painful defeat on Germany.
It was their victory that made possible
what he calls the "cruel peace” we
would have imposed on the Prussians
but for months of obstruction by him
and certain other Republicans.
General Pershing has lost no friends
and suffered nothing in prestige for
his refusal to appear before a Republi-
can committee on "investigation”
and apologize for winning the war und-
er a Democratic administration.
