lated about town the early part of
the week asking the business men
to contribute so much per month,
to retain some satiable person to
preserve the peace on the streets of

Yesterday afternoon at the Clioc-
taw depot a stranger attempted to
cross the tracks between two cars
onl\ a feu feet apart, not knowing
that an engine was attached. When
just between the bumpers the engine
shoved the cars together, catching
the man between the bumpers but
evidently not hitting him squarely,
as no bones were broken although
he was considerably bruised. lie
was taken to the hotel and given
