TO PASS WIMBISH BILL
IN FACE OF THREATS?
In the fees of Governor Wil-
liams’ flat veto threat and hu
statement that be would pre-
sent figures ahowlng need of the
present law, the house was
•obednlod Friday afternoon, to
paea the Wlmblsh mill reducing
supreme court appeal fee from
|40 to |16. It was $15 until
tbs governor hod It Increased by
the 1916 legislature.
Tho Wlmblsh Is known a»
antl-Wtlllams, the question of
administration support did not
enter Into debnte.
The 1616 Increase was de-
■lgned to lessen number of ap-
peals. The $25 added then to
the fee is not applied to couri
costs, but goes direct to the state
treasury. Arguments against are
that appeals have not decreased
and that the only effect has becD
an increased revenue for tbe
state at tbe expense of litigants.
SNYDER WOULD GIVE
SHERIFFS MORE FEES
A new fee system for sheriffs
Is embodied in a bill by Senator
W. K. Snyder, Oklahoma City.
It increases to 60 cents the
amount allowed for dally food
per prisoner and allows deputies
all fees earned. Instead of 75 per
rent as now.
