AT RYAN FAIR
Col. W. A. Worley of Duncan thinks
Joseph Putnam must have been In
tending to make a real "hunt" at the
Ryan fair this week. He found him
with twelve pints of 188 proof alcohol
in a suit case. The fellow he said in-
tended to make two quarts of booze
from each pint bottle selling the tea-
colored combination for Si. 25 a quart.
He would have received $30 for those
twelve bottles and the stuff cost him
at the Capital bar at Wichita Falls 80
cents a quart or I4.S0 for the vthol'j
grip full cf alcohol.
Putnam's preliminary hearing; Is to
be) held before Commissioner Eugene
Hamilton next Saturday September 4.
He is declared to live at Wilson where
he has a wife and five children. He
is now in the jail here.
Deputy Worley who works with
Sheriff Jim Biffle of Jefferson coun-
aided officers in' catching another
fclleged booze peddler and a burglar
while watching things at the Ryan
celebration. One of the men had a
suitcase filled with whisky. There was
little opportunity to prove introducing
against him so he was turned over to
the Jefferson county officers.

The board of county commissioners
of Grady county Oklahoma will re-
ceive sealed bids for the purchase of
three (3) cars of coal for the county's
use to be delivered as follows: One
(1) car in the bins at the separate
school building in the city of Chicka-
sha and two cars to be delivered in
the county bins at the court house.
All bids must be filed with the county
clerk on or before the 6th day of Sep-
tember 191 5 and must be on clean
lump coal screened over 9-in. screens
from Oklahoma mines.
All bills 'filed will be opened and pre-
sented to the board at 2 o'clock p. m.
