22 year years old, an out-
standing athlete and an
ideal for Kassin to build
around.
Jones played at Seward
County (Kan.) last season
after being on Mormon
mission for two years and
before that he redshirted
for Kassin at Huron. He’s a
highly skilled player who
can do it all.
Completing the perime-
ter tandem is Edwin Huff,
the surprising 6-3 fresh-
man from Minneapolis,
Minn. Kassin calls Huff “a
great athlete, the best all-
around guard I’ve been
around in a long time."
“Edwin understands
things," Kassin said. "He
moved from a high school
center and I never
dreamed he’d be this
good.”
Edward Montrell, 6-8
sophomore out of New Or-
leans, La. also has the ad-
vantage of college experi-
ence at Meridian Junior
College. He’s a good ath-
lete working to develop his
skills and appears the top
prospect at the pivot.

Look for Donnell Bey, a
5-9 freshman from
Newark, NJ, and Kevin
Hughes, the 6-4 sopho-
more out of Lawton
MacArthur, to play signifi-
cant roles at guard. Hugh-
es played at Cameron Uni-

Vince McGill, 6-1 fresh-
man from Patterson, NJ,
has great potential, but he
is fighting through his
third ankle sprain and is
way behind the others.
Rounding out the slew
of guards is Donald Dixon,
5-10 freshman from Law-
ton High School.
Another Lawton High
grad, 6-4 freshman De-
mond Salters, has been a
big surprise at forward.
Salters isn’t real physical
nor an outstanding de-
fender, but he’s a tremen-
dous shooter, the best on
the team.
Providing more depth at
forward, which is probably
the Pioneers’ strongest
area, are Altus’ own Tyler
Phillips, a 6-4 freshman,
and Kevin Davis, a 6-3
freshman from LaRue,
Texas.
Phillips has been anoth-
er pleasant surprise,
catching Kassin’s eye and
working his way up to
where he’s able to come off
the bench and contribute.
Davis is another superb
athlete who could develop
into an outstanding player
as he learns the system
and hones his basketball
skills.
Adding depth on the in-
side are Tulsa sophomore
Taiwan Jackson (6-4),
Gaylon Dorsey (6-5, Fr.),
another former Altus Bull-
dog, and 6-6 by 200-
pound freshman Myron
Martin of Tulsa.
Jackson, a transfer
from New Mexico Military
Institute, is another good
athlete who can Jump out
