gold medalist to highlight
the action for Altus Junior
High's ninth grade boys
track team Friday at the
Boomtown Relays.
Holt won the 110 hur-
dles with a time of 15.47
seconds, sped through the
300 hurdles in a winning
time of 42.26 and leaped
19 feet, 3 1/4 inches to
win the long jump.

programs will begin Mon-
day and continue through
March 25.
Applications will be ac-
cepted at the City Recre-
ation office (601 Katy Dri-
ve) or gym (529 Katy Drive)
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon-
day through Friday.
The baseball program is
offered to all boys ages 5
through 14. Age division is
determined by the partici-
pant's ages as of 7-31-02.
The softball program is
for all girls ages 5 through
18. Age division is deter-
mined by the participant’s
age as of 1-1-02.
Participants must play
in their age division.
On Saturday, March 30.
baseball and softball regis-

lahoma State in the quar-
terfinals of the conference
tournament.
Knight was looking
ahead, though, to Satur-
day's semifinal against No.
1 Kansas, which set a
tournament scoring record
in a 102-73 rout of Col-
orado.

nounced Friday by the Ok-
lahoma Coaches Associa-
tion.
Nall, who posted a 41-4
match record en route to
winning the Class 4A 160-
SHAWNEE - The West-
ern Oklahoma State Col-
lege men's basketball team
saw its season come to a
close Friday on a 70-54
loss to Northern Oklahoma
College-Enid in the open-
ing round of the NJCAA
Region II tournament at
Oklahoma Baptist Univer-
sity’s Noble Center.
The Pioneers finished
with a 16-13 record.
Northern-Enid, now 17-
14. advanced to Saturday
night’s semifinals against
Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Western, struggling of-
fensively throughout,
managed only one brief
lead at 27-26 and trailed
32-27 at halftime.
The Pioneers were still
very much in it, lagging by
only two points (34-32)
early in the second half.
But the Jets used a 16-4
surge to take a command-
ing 50-36 lead with about
10 minutes remaining.
Western drew within
eight points at 60-52 when
Vince McGill hit a three-
pointer with 3:10 left, but
the Pioneers could get no
closer and Northern-Enid
pulled away down the
stretch.
Cer Edwards of North-
ern-Enid led all scorers
with 15 points. Kellen Mi-
liner and London Marshall
tossed in 12 apiece for the
Jets.
Damond Salters, with
12, was the only double-
digit scorer for Western.
The Pioneers had only
five field goals in the sec-
ond half..
Northern-Enid netted
22 of 29 free throws and
Western was 17 of 28 from
the line.
