Duncan, Ike
LAWTON - The Altus Junior High 7th
grade girls basketball team won two games
last week.
On Monday, they defeated Duncan 28-7
and on Tuesday they defeated Lawion Ike
28-19.
In the Duncan contest, Altus left little
doubt breaking out to a quick 10-0 first
quarter lead. Both,teams scored 2 points
in the second quarter as Altus went into
the half w ith a 12-2 lead. The Lady Dawgs
outscored the Lady Demons 7-4 in the
third quarter and 9-1 in the final frame to
take the 28-7 victory.Jordan Benway led
Altus with 9 points while Hayley Leyja
added seven.
Tonight’s scheduled wrestling matches
between the Altus High Bulldogs and the
Elgin Owls and Lawton Eisenhower Ea-
gles have been cancelled.
Elgin and the Lawton Schools were
closed today because of the weather.
Altus High Head Wrestling Coach Nick
Williams said the matches will be re-
scheduled.
As of press time there was no decision
as whether or not the basketball games
between Weatherford and Altus at Weath-
erford will be played.

In the Duncan contest Altus broke out
to a quick 9-0 first quarter lead. They were
able to stretch
it out to 18-5 at the half. Altus was able
to outscore the | ady D mons in the third
frame 7-2 to take a 25-
- lead into the final frame. The Lady
Dawgs outscored Duncan 6-0 in the final
quarter to take the victory.
31-7. Kelsee Baker led Alius with 11
points while Kady Worth added 6.

very physical as the Lady Dawgs were
called for 35 fouls. Altus left
the first quarter down 12-5 but quickly
pulled back into the game trailing 12-11
midway through the
second quarter. Ike was able to roll off
the next 7 points to take a 19-11 lead into
the half. The third
quarter doomed the Lady Dawgs as Ike,
taking advantage of the foul problems of
Altus, outscored the
Lady Dawgs 10-1. Ike outscored Altus in
the fourth quarter 9-6 to take the victory.
Altus was led by Baker who had 7 points
while Worth had 6.
Altus (4-3) will host Cache on Monday.
