The town of Eldorado has filed a suit against the project
engineer and the construction company claiming the facility
was "negligently designed, planned and constructed." All of
these represent, according to the town, breaches of their
contracts with the city on this sewage system.

Holiday Reception museum event set for Monday
Western Trail Historical Society Board members from left, Kathy Hale, President, Dennis Vernon, and
Program Chair, Jennie Buchanan are making the final preparations for the Holiday Reception to be held at
the Museum of the Western Prairie from 5 to 7 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 7. Approximately 1,600 photographs
from the museum's archives were reviewed for possible inclusion in the 2010 calendar titled "When Greer
County Was Old." The final historical photos selected, along with the stories they reveal, will be featured at
this reception. In addition to the photographs, this calendar features a timeline of significant historical
events that occurred during the settlement of Old Greer County. The content provides a detailed chronology
of the development of this area. The cover is a full color reproduction of a painting of the Woodrow Wilson
III home, south of Mangum, by local artist Loweta Chesser. Eddie Wilcoxen. KWHW radio personality and
poet, has contributed two poems to the calendar. The calendar is a fundraiser for the museum. Local spon-
sors and the Western Trail Historical Society have fully funded the production costs of the calendar. Every
dollar raised from sales will go directly to support the Museum of the Western Prairie This Holiday
Reception is the first opportunity to see the current condition of the museum, which has been closed since
mid-2007 for an asbestos abatement procedure. This will also be an opportunity to help The Western Trail
Historical Society to assist in the restoration. Calendars will be on sale during the reception. Everyone is
invited and refreshments will be served.

Water is certainly a sticky issue
here in Southwest Oklahoma. Either
we don't have enough of it, or all of a
sudden, we have too much of it.
Wastewater, with all of its various
additives and pollutants has chal-
lenged some small towns through the
years, especially in western Jackson
County. Duke and Eldorado have both
had sewage system challenges.
What is it about this area that
seems to predispose us to sewage
problems? Is it facility design?
Construction? Maintenance? Maybe
