TULSA Nov 5---(11P)—A husky
23-'vear-old step-father smoked a
cigarette with studied calmness to-
night as he told County Investigat-
or H H Cultism how he beat his
two-year-old footer daughter fat
ally because she refused to obey him
While the girl's mother looked On
he said he beat the tiny girl with a
- leather belt and left her on a bed
in the ramshackle house where they
lived on the bank of the Arkansas
river west of Tulsa When he came
back from hunting a straying goat
he found the child apparently dead
Then he said he and the girl's
mother took her to a Red Fork
doctors office where they were told
the child wao dead and "what you
need is an undertaker not a phy-
sician" StiOrt ly afterward county offi-
cers received a call from a funeral
home in Sand Springs telling au-
‘ tborities they had the body of a
mall girl who apparently had been
beaten to death -
Arrest of the child's foster-father

"I ain't going to stand up for

standing about 15 minutes In the

bands on hand including the 0M A

national guard bands and the Bar-

I didn't get a chance to see the
parade Of course as I was In it but
I saw the rest forming and know it
was a good sized parade We had
an unexpected honor awaiting us
in the parade because we had a
champion baton twirler assigned to
our band--Miss Jocelyn Jackson a
10-year-old lassie from Texas who
was brought up especially to take
part in the parade She haAl been
chosen the champion baton twirler
of Texas and besides doing her
stuff on the march she in her red
and white uniform was as cute as
a bug's ear and immediately took
up with the band and was with us
all day
The parade was led by the OMA

cowboy band and the horseback
riders and chuck wagons What

there was plenty became it took
