IT IS CERTAINLY most interest-
ing to learn what other people
are thinking about The SOS for
help and suggestions has resulted
in some very interesting com-
ments Mrs E T Martin of 410 South
Harrison for example is not so
engrossed in scraping carrots
shelling peas and washing radishes
for the family dinner but that she
can see beauty in it all She
writes:
"Have you ever noticed the
beautiful array of colors in the
lowly vegetables? It seems to me
that they have seldom been so
vivid and lovely as this year
Green and yellow string beans
gleaming orange carrots red and
purple radishes green peas tender-veined
cabbage tiny cucutn-
bers fuzzy okra and soon the
crimson and yellow tomatoes
Truly the Lord is good—to give
us delicious foods in such beauti-
ful colors"
Thank you Mrs Martin I am
sure that we are all a little better
for having read that In future
we will look for beauty as well as
nourishment in vegetables
Mrs D B Simmons of 901 East
Second street turns our thoughts
to music She points out that a
recent recreation Congress sent
out a questionnaire to learn what
songs were the most popular
throughout the entire country
"As you will see by the list"
points out Mrs Simmons" the so
called popular melodies come and
go but the old list of favorites re-
main about the same people of
every corner and section appar-
ently' agreeing in their tastes"
The list follows:
Old Folks at Home
My Old Kentucky Home
America
Old Black Joe
Dixie
The Battle Hymn of the Repub-
lic Carry Me Back to Old Virginny
There's A Long Long Trail
America the Beautiful
The Star Spangled Banner

"Sure was a big shot in town
last night" said one small boy to
another
"Huh — where 'bouts?" asked
his pal
"He got caught in the rain and
he left his clothes in front of The
Palace Clothing store" was the
answer "he must have been ten
feet high and three feet broad—
I could crawl up one of his pants
legs I betcha"
We bet he could too It cer-
tainly is a big pair of overalls in
front of the Palace and we're like
the small boys we'd like to see
the guy that could wear them

While the ceremonies were going
on inside the crowd grew greater
outside the gates on which villag-
ers had hung silk covered horse
shoes
Mothers icily moving their baby
caniages black and forth discussed
the portent that lay in the bright
lint sun They think here that a
gray day is luckier for a wedding
Drink to Health
Champagne corks popped as those
at the gates drank the health of the
duke and duchess
The religious ceremony then
started the poignant moment of the
clay
Stocky gray haired Vicar Jar-
dine prayer book in hand read:
"Dearly beloved we are gathered
gether he:e in the sight of God
to join together this man and
this woman in holy matrimony "
Vicar Jardine came to the words
Forsaking all other"
chhishop Warns
That pledge meant in this case—
family government church coun-
tty The venerable Archbishop of
Canterbury back in London and
his fellow church leaders had warn-
ed that this marriage ceremony
meant nothing: that the clergyman
presiding was out of his parish a
"presbyter vagans" a wandering
p! lest without authority
Lot the duke and his bride felt
OW they were marrying in the
sight of God if not within the con-
fines of the church authority
"Who giveth this woman to be
married to this man?"
Herman L Rogers the dukes tld
friend stepped slightly forward to
give the bride away
The duke and his duchess then
Jelled hands and repeated after the
l'hices Ring on Finger
"I Albert Edward etc (Wallis
Winfiel(i) take thee Wallis War
field lAlbert Edward etc) to my
' dace wife 0 husband 0 to have and
to hold from this day forward for
better for worse lor richer for
Poorer in sickness and in health
to love and to cherish till death us
de part acerding to God s holy
ordinance and therefore I plight
my troth"
The couple then unclasped their
Lands and the duke put the wed-
ding ring of Welsh gold On the book
The Minister picked it up and re-
tarried it to the duke who slipped
it on the fourth finger of the lelt
hand of his duchess
Holding her hand with his finger
on the ring he recited:
"With this ring I thee wed with
my body I thee worship and 1Aith
all my worldly goods T thee endow:
in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Ghost
Amen"
This blessing of God was invoked
when the clergyman began with the
prescribed Anglican formula:
"Will Thou "
''Dearly beloved we are gathered
here in the sieht of God to join
together this man and this woman
in holy matrimony which is an
honorable estate and therefore
Is not by any to be enterprised
'Nor taking in hand unadvisedly
lightly or wantonly to sal isty
men's carnal lusts and appetites
like brute beasts that have no un-
derstanding but reverently (lis-
creetly advisedly and in the fear
of God
"Edward Albert etc wilt thou
have this woman to thy wedded
wife to live together after God:
ordinance in the holy estate of
matrimony wilt thou love her
comfort her honor and keep her 'a
sickness and in health and for-
saking all others keep thee only
unto him so long as ye both shall
live?"
"1 will" (response)
DucheYs Responds

this znan to thy wedded husband
to live together after elod's ordin-
ance in the holy estate of matri-
mony? Wilt thou obey him and

shut as this civil ceremony ended
The wedding for history was ent-

Cue topic of comment was that

The bill also was attacked as
violative of Section 57 Article 5
of the constitution which requires
that laws embrace only one sub-

1 "Attempts to provide for the
