BOSTON July 31-4UM—Young
Danno O'Mahoney of Ireland was
the widely disputed "undisputed
world heavyweight wrestling cham-
pion" today by virtue of a victory
over Ed Don George in a tumultous
grappling match free-for-all brawl
and young riot staged before nearly
45000 fans at Braves field last
night
Referee James J Braddock who
wears the world heavyweight box-
ing chapeau declared O'MahoneY
the victor and immediately backed
his decision with flying fists floor-
ing Don Georges chief second
twice as the match ended and a
melee started in the ring
Police Holt Brawl
Before squads of Boston and state
police halted the brawl at least 20
members of the two mat camps and
their enthusiastic admirers were
whanging away under the flood-
lights Braddock counted out George
aller one hour and 30 minutes of
glappling making the Irishman the
firet "undisputed" world champion
the mat game has had in six years
And Braddock's count started the
fireworks Braddock counted to the
official 20 and when Don George
failed to return to the ring after a
flight into the press section he
raieed Danno's big right mitt
!mmediately Don George's chief
second and trainer Frank Dellam-
ene :1ring through the ropes and
rharged at Braddock Jimmy
tietthed him on the canvas
Grow Still Claims Title
Dellamano and the rest of the
Geors4e camp believed Jimmy had
i en the New England champion a
short count—that he had counted
20 as !f he wanted to get back to
hie hotel In a hurry They also be-
lieved that Jimmy had given
O'Mahoney a long count just a
rout& minutes before
In his dressing room Dort George
insisted that he was still champion
of the world—at least as far as New
England's recognition is concerned
New England and Canada tecogniz-
ed the former Michigan university
and Olympic grappler as king be-
cause of his victory over Henri
Deglane of France two years ago
O'Mahoney was recognized as
champion throughout the rest of
the country because of his victory
three weeks ago over Jim Lamps
