Midget Rotarian Eleven Wins
By A Touchdown in Battle
At Speedway Park
The Rotarian midgets football
team defeated the hitherto unbeaten
junior American Legion team by the
slender margin of a touchdown in
a bitter battle Tuesday afternoon at
Speedway park The score was 6 to O
Hard tackling and alert defensive
work on both sides kept either team
from threatening to score during the
first half The winning touchdown
came early in the third quarter
when Stone Rotarian right tackle
recovered a punt fumbled by the Le-
gion safety
Clark Rotary left half then slip-
ped off left tackle for fifteen yards
and the only score of -the game The
"little soldiers" nearly scored a
touchdown in the closing minutes of
the game however when their pas-
ses and long runs brought the ball to
the Rotary 'four yard line with for
downs in which to score
Further progress was rendered
futile however by the vicious tack-
ling and strong goal line Rotary de-
fense and the game ended with the
ball on the four yard line
The end runs of Frank Massad
accurate passing of Waller and pass
catching of Fred Speaker featured
the Legion offense The bard fast
tackling of Glen Gooding and the
long punting of Clark were outstand-
ing for the Rotarians
