OKLAHOMA CITY April 19—(IP)
—Oklahoma's oil conservation policy
will be studied before Governor W
J Holloway acts in connection with
othcr oil state governor for the gen-
eral federal policy he said today
Holloway was informed that an of-
ficial of the National Geological sur-
vey vas on his way to Oklahoma to
roster with him on oil conservation
If President Hoover requests his
views on oil conservation he will fur
nigh them gladly Holloway said The
governor said in the press of other
official duties he had not studied the
cil situation sufficiently to discuss it
now
Final settlement on an oil con-
s'rvation treaty between states would
rest with congress and the legisla-
ture Holloway said He said he had
learned any agreement between two
states was legislative in his investi
gat:on of the western boundary con-
tnurersy President Hoover has scheduled
- conferences with governors of all
states producing oil in an attempt
to agree upon a general oil conser-
x a ticn treaty

conformity rather than religion He
pointed out however that in a recent
Tescreh paper sent to ministers and
theological students is seen a change
in their point of view which is most
encouraging for the future
At the conclusion of Governor 01-
Hern's address Mr Blank called at-
tcnt!on to the fact that Governor
O'llem is himself a pioneer being
closely associated as geologist with
the early development of the oil
industry in Oklahoma having locat-
ed one of the first wells in the Cush-
kg field
The tables looked beautiful with
bowls of snapdragons jonquils and
Iris and pink taper candles The
guests were seated at long tables
with the speakers table at the north
end of the Grillroom
After the program all those caring
to were invited to remain for danc-
ing The dancing continued until
about 11:45 the Gloomchasers furn-
ishing the music
From the standpoint of attendance
Interest and excellence of program
this was adjudged by many as one
of the most successful Inter-Cities
meetings held in the district :

We hears good deal !about tact in
business It is greatly stressed yet
there a r e some-
LOTS OF TACT times some glaring
IN THE examples of lack of
WORLD? tact
A certain Cush-
ing lady who dresses roither simply
went into a store the other day and
bought a pair of walking shoes She
asked that they- be delivered and gave
her address The clerk knew the ad-
dress and looked at the lady rather
blankly and said:
"How long have you been working
for Mrs X— I used to know the
woman that worked out there She
was !a cousin to the woman that took
care of my wife when she was sick"
That actually happened We re-
fuse to give names and facts but the
lady being very much a lady merely
said: "I have been with Mrs

gain 'Tackles Texan' De-
fended AMARILLO Texas April 19—(IP)
Although the business men of Ama-
rillo believe' they made a "bad deal
in engaging the Chicago Civic Opera
to produce the opera 'Thais" for
the benefit of -this cow town com-
munity the Opera company need
have to fear of financial loss May-
or Ernest O Thompson said today
Mayor Thompson on behalf of the
Amarillo guarantors said the $2500
deficit incurred by the company
would be paid
'In Texas we believe in paying
our obligations regardless of wheth-
er we have made a bad deal" he
said "We have made our protest
we have accomplished our purpose
and the S2500 is too trivial in its
amount to argue about"
Blayor Thompson also defended
Gene Howe editor who engaged in
extended controversy with Mary Gar-
den after the Amarillo performance
Howe charged Mary was "so old she
tottered" and that the performance
was cut
Howe the "Tack less Texan" was
not seeking publicity with his crit-
icism Thompson said
"If Miss Garden had not referred
to him as a swine and skunk his
comment would have attracted lit-
tle attention"
Mayor Thompson reiterated the
protest of tk3 guarantors that "Tha-
is" as produced in Amarillo did not
include the advertised ballet a street
dance in costume being the only
thing that resembled a ballet
NEW VORKApril 19-4114—"Who
i3 this editor Howe person?" asked
Mary Garden Chicago opera singer
here The accent was on the "who"
"I don't know why he persists in
dragging my name around for his
own amusement" she added "I
don't know the man I don't want
I've never met him
I don't want to meet him I'd— oh
well he treated me horribly hor-
ribly" Editor Gene Howe of Amarillo
Tex where tle Chicago Opera com-
pany including Mary Garden recent-
ly gave a performance had said the
singer was getting to be "so old she
tottered"
"He wrote a horrible article about
me down in that—that—place called
Amarillo" Bliss Garden said "He
must be an awful person I don't
want to know him
n over with him
Later Miss Garden said she would
"like to talk things
personally some time"

y ou have been fighting carbon'ev' er since you
drove your first car You have probably
s
come to accept carbon as a necessary evil to
consider frequent carbon removal and valve grind-

But thousands of owners of automobiles don't
think so They have found a way to get rid of the
t1 carbon complex They have discovered that they
can whip carbon with Shell Motor Oil
Shell Motor Oil forms very little carbon And
what there is h soot-like fluffy and non-fouling
It readily blows out with the exhaust gases
Regular users of Shell Motor Oil declare that this
) soft sooty carbon does not foul spark plugs choke
ignition or pile up on piston heads They find that
it does not bake on valve seats or get in around
piston rings causing loss of power They are not
