Col Bob Kiikbride of this city
had workmen begin the first of the
week in the voik of excavating the
basement of what is to be Alva’s first
apartment house
This building is to be located on
the lot3 just east of the Amsden Lum-
ber Yard and is to be an up-to-date
and modern in every particular
The structure will he 34x42 feet
two stories high and a complete base-
ment under the entire building It
will be of fran e structure stuccoed
and will contain four apartments
complete in evei y detail The apart-
ments will be th-ee room with four
room efficiency
This will be a much needed addi-
tion to Alva’s housing capacity and
no doubt will In one of the best pay-
ing investments in the city
Acqording to the contract work on
the building is to be pushed to com-
pletion by the middle of August

to the graduating class of Northwest-
ern Bishop Waldorf also delivered
a lecture at the Methodist church the
same evening to a large andience
Bishop Waldorf is one of the really
big men of the United States and the
college is to be congratulated on be-
ing able to secure his services for this
occasion
The high school graduation occurs
this evening at the Hah school with
Prof Smith head of the science de-
partment of the Oklahoma University

railway with the Oklahoma A and
M college and the Oklahoma State
Board of Agriculture in cooperation
Coming here directly from Free-
dom Oklahoma where a program had
been given earlier in the day tho
