Autos
American industry leads the woild particularly in the manu-
facture of automobiles No other country is making them so good
or so cheap as this country Wherefore our manufacturers arc
sure to dominate the woild motor car business unless other nations
combine to bar American cars by prohibitive tariffs
Last year the United States exported more than half a million
cars and trucks one-tenth of its total products Before long Rog-
er Babson predicts the foreign market will take one-fourth of our
production
More than half the new production this year and probably
in succeeding years will be needed for replacements That leaves
a comparatively small quantity of cars for new owners The do-
mestic market will giow steadily with the population and wealth
tEhe old expectation of one car to a family is giving away to an ex-
pectation of two This may be the average in 10 years from now

Straw Print Paper
A plant now' being installed in Edmonton Canada will
turn out news print paper from straw Apparently a process has
been devi -ed for transferring this rather difficult material into a
pulp smooth and white enough for the purpose
It is a good use for the strawstacks of the great Canadian
wheat belt and thould do much to conserve the Canadian pulp-
vvixkJ foies ts
And if in Canada why not in the United States where there
is less timber and more straw? Cornstalks which used to be most-
ly waste are now' as silage turned into beef milk and butter If
straw' which probably represents the biggest wastage still left on
the farm can he turned into newspapers it will save the forests
and make money for the farmers
Unfailing Crop
You are not a regular American citizen unless you arc on
somebody’s “sucker list” If you arc on one list you arc probably
on many for they pass these lists around like the olives at a picnic
More than one billion dollars was dropped last year by “suckers”
who fell lor crooked promotions Most of the victims arc repeat-
ers who have bitten lcforc Probably they will bite again There
is evidently something seductive about being a “sucker”
Unless you want to he stung consult your banker
Arc Wc Any Better?
Senator Borah says we make Ux many laws With 4S state
legislatures meeting in tegular sessions and with the assistance of
congress United States lawmakers turn out approximately 10000
new laws a year Not more than half of these laws are ever en-
forced We have already over 10 million laws it has Iven con-
servatively estimated Are wc any Letter today than those people
veho lived under the Ten Commandments of Moses?

SCHOOL AID EXCEEDS NEEDS consideration of bills embodying var-
