Ms. Van Zante said
consumers are becoming
better informed about the
products they buy.
The survey showed 82.1
percent of the respondents
shop around to get ideas
before they buy. More than
70 percent watched for
sales, and 38.5 percent
looked in department store
catalogs to compare
prices.
Ms. Van Zante said they
look particularly for fur-

test of time and they are
willing to spend extra
money to get quality.
