Farmers must
file estimated
II
Income soon
Area farmers and ranchers were
reminded that Monday January'
!16 is the final day for filing their'
estimated federal income tax re-
turn for 1960 unless they plan
filing their final return on or
before February 15
Jess J Mitchell local Revenuel
1Officer for he Internal Revenue'
'Service explalned - that thosel
farmers and ranchers who file
an estimated return on January
116 and pay the tax due thereon
l have until April 17 to file their
'final return and pay any balance
if tax dne Otherwise the law
liequires that they file their final
libturn and pay the full amount
of the tax due by February 15
The IRS representative said
that this option is available to
farmeis and ranchers only The
Aax law dailies a farmer or
rancher as one who derives two-
thirds or more of his gross in-
come from farming or ranching
lie advised farmers and ranchers
that if they filed a federal income
tax return last year the necessary
form for this year will be mailed
to them For those who did not
file or for some other reason do
not receive their forms in the
mail blank forms may be ob-
tained from the nearest Internal
Revenue Service office or from
post offices or banks
'Everyone who had a gross in-
come (not net) of $600 or more
during 1960 must file an income
tax return with Uncle Sam
whether or not any tax is owed
Only exception to this rule is that
if you werel 65 years of age or
Over at the end of 1960 you are
nOt required to file a return un-
less your gross income was $1200
or more"
Needed assistance is available
from the Revenue Service both
by telephone and in the office
but taxpayers are urged to fill
out their own returns as far as
possible before contacting IRS

Her tavern lover is
at home sometimes
By ABIGAIL VAN BUREN
DEAR ABBY: I work in a tav-
ern and have met lots of men
The one I love I met here four
years ago He says I am the only
girl he's ever loved and if it
weren't for his children and his
religion he would get divorced
and marry me
His wife is a nagger and doesn't
appreciate anything he does for
her He spends almost every
night with me How dumb can
she be not to catch on? She keeps
having one baby after another
just to hold him How can I get
her to give up? Print this she
might take the hint
STANDING PAT
DEAR STANDING: II o w
dumb can YOU be? You're not
taking the hint yourself Your
boy friend's wife isn't having
all those babies without some
help from her husband Ob-
viously she has no intentions of
giving up Why don't you?
DEAR ABBY: My wife has
needed to go on a diet for years
but she kept putting it off Sud-
denly she announced that she and
a man who works with her are
going to have a weight-losing
contest Whoever loses the most
weight in six weeks has to take
the other one out for a steak din-
ner Just the two of them I
trust my wife but I don't like the
idea of her going out and having'
a good time with another man1
His wife is all for it because she
wants him to lose weight I'm
glad my wife is finally going to
diet but I don't like the way she's i
going about it Am I making
something out of nothing? Or!
should I go along with it and
wish them luck?
