On Friday night November 7
the Warriors and Warriorettes
played host to the Custer teams
The boys played an exciting game
to win by a margin of 61-55 but
the girls were defeated 47-36
The Senior high basketball
teams will play Carter there on
Friday night November 21
The pep club has been organ-
ized for this school year with Mr

from Topeka with his parents

Those who have watched the
Sandstone Watershed on the
Washita know that BernardBeen-
ey was there because his grand-
father Bernard Savage Ham-
mon Okla a pioneer of Okla-
homa dedicated his life to saving
the soil and water so that future
generations might benefit from it
Mr Savage homesteaded sixty-
five years ago in Oklahoma and
during those early years watched
the rich sandy soil being washed
away A lover of nature he was
given to taking long hikes through

The organizer of the plan Mr
Savage died nine years ago be-
fore seeing the fulfillment of his
dream But the challenge has
been accepted by hundreds of
others and will be continued on
through the life of bis grandson
and namesake Bernard Heeney
The five daughters and three
sons of Mr Savage are vitally in
terested in the work started by
their father and two of the girls
Mrd Males and Mrs Heeney at-
tended Monday's meeting here in
El Dorado Mrs Males said that
love of the land is part of their
