ing Mr Harris is a former
resident of Luther where he
was employed by his brother
Frank Harris in the mercantile

Members of the Bridge Club
were entertained at the home of

nesday evening The club will
meet this week at the home of

Mrs Elizabeth Canada and
daughter Mrs Ferman Graber

man returned Sunday evening
from a three months trip spent
in Washington Oregon and oth-

The small son of Mr and Mrs
Leonard Lawson is reported
quite sick this week with dip-
theria The child has been sick
since Friday evening

visiting her parents Mr and

Friday evening at 7:30 the
Senior B Y P U entertained
its members and a number of
guests at ale home of Mrs Ruby
Perdue
The guests were welcomed at
the gate by a real ghost who
motioned them to the front door
where an old witch ushered
them into a dimly lighted room
which was decorated in Hal-
lowe'en colors After the
guests had all arrived each one
unmasked and introduced him-
self as a spirit come back to
earth for the party The prize
for the best disguised guest was
awarded Lloyd Selvidge who
wore a box like costume label-
ed B Y P U and representing
the spirit of the Union
After an evening spent at
playing interesting games and
spiced with plenty of music re-
freshments of pumpkin pie top-
ped with whipped cream and
cocoa were served
At a late hour thirty-six
guests departed expressing their
deepest appreciation to Mrs
Perdue for her hospitality and
to the B Y P U social com-
mittee for the enjoyable evening
While attending the Teach-
ers' meeting at Edmond Friday
Mrs Ruby Perdue attended a
Criterion Club Tea at the home
of Mrs Ben F Harrison past
Dean of Women at Central State
teachers college In the receiv-

accompanied home by Roberta
Huntington who had been visit-
ing for a week

last week guests of their friends

Malone Fatally hurt
In Motorcycle Crash
HARRAII—Carl Malone 24
years old son of Mrs Effie Ma-
lone former postmaster here
died Saturday in an Oklahoma
City hospital the result of a
motorcycle accident which oc-
curred Monday of last week on
the highway about two miles
northwest of here
Malone had borrowed Henry
Moore's motorcycle and had
ridden out the Meeker pave-
ment While returning to Har-
rah a strong wind swerved him
from the pavement and in at-
tempting to gain the pavement
the loose earth caused the ma-
chine to turn over Motorists
found him pinned beneath the
cycle with a broken leg Dr
Griggs was notified and gave
first aid and Malone was sent to
the hospital
Malone who was an employe
of the Oklahoma Gas & Electric
Company here at their plant is
survived by his wife Ruby Ma-
lone a small son his mother
Mrs Effie Malone all of Harmh
and one brother John Malone of
Oklahoma City
Funeral services and burial
were held here Monday
Joseph L Paschal
Dies At Okla City
Joseph L Paschal who dur-
ing the past year conducted a
poultry ranch a mile west of
Jones but who recently moved
to Oklahoma City passed away
at his home there last Friday
The body was shipped to his
home at Sayre for burial
Paschal who was 68 years
old was employed at the time of
his death in the mechanical de-
partment of the Daily Oklaho-
man He had formerly been in
the newspaper business at Say-
re Heart failure with which
he had been afflicted for some
time was the cause of his death
He is survived by his wife
three sons E R and R F Pas-
chal Oklahoma City and R C
Paschal of Kansas City Mo and
two daughters Mrs K S Sut-
ton Oklahoma City and Mrs
Hillary Warren Allison Texas
Hard Times Results
In Fewer Marriages
Hard times seem to be having
their effect on the marriage
business as well as other busi-
nesses in Oklahoma county
Records in the office of Court
Clerk Cliff Myers show that dur-
ing August September and
October of last year 1530 mar-
riage permits were issued while
for the same three months this
year only 030 couples had the
teremity to try life in single
harness
Divorce cases also have shown
a decrease During the past
three months only 435 divorce
suits were flied compared with
597 for the same months last
year
NO Gallon Still
Found By Deputies
Bill Sutton living two and
one-half miles southeast of Ed-
mond was arrested by a sheriff's
raiding squad and was held in
the county jail on liquor charges
A 200-gallon stsill was seized
and destroyed
Done Stone Dan Kean and
Ross Pierce the deputies said
they took 25 gallons of whisky
and 450 gallons of mash

City Student Killed
In St Louis Accident
George E Barbour 18-year01d
student of Oklahoma City
University was killed Saturday
near St Louis Mo when his
automobile went over an em-
bankment Barbour and a com-
panion Ernest Brown also of
Oklahoma City were enroute
home from St Louis where they
had attended the football game
between Oklahoma City Uni-
versity and St Louis University
Brown who was driving lost
control of the machine
Officers who were near the
scene of the accident rushed
Barbout to a hospital where he
was pronounced dead Brown
was not hurt
The body of Barbour was
f hipped to Oklahoma City for
burial
