WARD TWO
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
As the days of the 1969 Okla-
homa high football season dwin-
dle down to a precious few, so
do the number of unbeaten and
untied prep teams in the state.
There are only two left in
Class AAA — 9op ranked Tul-
sa Washington and second-rank-
ed Tulsa Hale. Each has a 8-0
record.
In Class AA, first-place Ok-
mulgee—enjoying its first week
on top after a 21-7 triumph ov-
er Ada — stands 9-0 and sec-
ond-rated Altus is 8-0.
Tulsa Cascia Hall, an inde-
pendent and ineligible for the
state playoffs, is Class A's lone
“perfect” team. The Tulsans
are 9-0 and ranked third in the
top ten. Clinton, No. 1, is 8-1
with only a loss to Altus mar-
ring its record.
Class B boasts Stroud (No. 1,
9-0) and Talihina (No. 2, 9-0).
The biggest supply of perfect
records belongs to Class C,
where the top five teams have
won all their games. In order,
they’re Minto (winner of 23
straight), Marietta, Thomas and
Weleetka, all with 9-0 marks,
and Picher with an 8-0 showing.
Three other teams haven’t
been beaten, but have been in-
volved in ties. They are Clare-
more in Class A, Comanche in
Class B and Waurika in Class
C.
Most of the state’s prep teams
wind up regular season activity
this weekend, with playoffs be-
ginning for the small schools
Nov. 21.
The rules of golf are quite specific about the
type of equipment we must use. For instance, the
width of the grooves in iron clubs may not exceed
.035 of an inch.
