overruling this motion
"It was merely aiked that Heiny be forced to
'comply with the law' and register those entitled to

He was particularly bitter because the opposing
justices refused even to listen to the petition by
voting down the motion to overrule

With nine justices comprising the supreme court
and seven in the conference it would have taken a
majority of five to either issue the writ or overrule

In Referee Robert Rays court that
he approached the conception of

Hooker who very evidently enjoyed
the testimony
"So you went into Senator
lard's partnership took the tail end
of the firm name to give the senator
a standing?" Hooker asked '
Buckley admitted it
gily1HERE did you get this won-vy derful reputation?" Hooker
asked
Buckley answered that most of his
reputation was established repre-

admitted then under Hooker's fire
that he had never pleaded a case for
the company in Oklahoma-co and had
as a duty with the company only ex-
amination of abstracts and other
routine matters

RADICAL- FUSION
MOVE FAILS
Minor Political Parties Will
Row pnw Boat
' By LAWRENCE MARTIN
United Tress Writer
Washington Oct 26—Efforts to
unite the forces of radicalism lib-
'eralism unrest and protest into a
cohesive political unit have again
failed
In Nov 7 election as in pre-
vious ones these forces will divide
their strength among a large num-
ber of candidates
1 Fusion Sought
This year an early start was
made in the attempt to bring the
radicals and liberals of all shades
ender one leadership so the't they
would all vote for one set of
congressional candidates and make
stronger showing
The nocialist-labor groups farmer-labor
parties progressives and
others who have broken away from
the two major parties were urged
to agree locally on candidates to be
supported by all the liberal or
"protest" voters of that congres-
sional district or state
Flat Failure
It was muggested that where the
farmer-labor party was strongest
It pick candidates That the soda-
lists pick them where strongest
Everybody else who did not want a
Republican or Democrat elected
was to rally-around the third can
didate
It now apears that much In their
usual style the minor parties have
gone their separate ways nominat-
ing their own candidates and thus
have split their Arength
In Illinois for example where the
labor farmer and socialist groups
combined could make an impressive
showing they have failed to unite
'and in nearly every congressional
district of the state there is a
socialist candidate for congress and
a farmer-labor candidate
In New York state some progress
has been made towards uniting the
various groups
Liberal leaders have for piontbs
predictedthatthe two major parties
would be shocked at the site of the
protest vote this year
The ' extent of the radical split
is shown by the fact that no fewer
than 20 "parties" or groups have
presented congressional candidates
this year
