Eichmann Charges Listed
JERUSALEM (UPI)—Charges levied against Adolf
Eichmann indicated Thursday that Israel apparently is
assuming the right to try the accused Nazi mass mur-
derer on behalf of the world community for his alleged
crimes against non-Jews as well as Jews.
The Israeli government’s announcement of the for-
mal chargeselast night surprised many observers in that
it revealed a widening of the scope of Eichmann’s com-
ing trial beyond crimes against the Jewish people.
Included in the 15 counts against the jailed former
SS colonel were charges of alleged crimes against Gyp-
sies and on behalf of Poles, Yugoslavs and Czechs.

Laos Claims Victory
VIENTIANE, Laos (— Prince Boun Oum's pro-West-
ern government Thursday claimed capture of the stra-
tegic Pou Khoun road junction and said its force of
about 900 men was pushing east toward the Plaine des
Jarres, stronghold of the pro-Communist rebels.
Newsmen heard the capture claim with skepticism,
however, since the fall of Vang Vieng to government
forces had been announced days before it occurred.
The government announcement said the linkup had
cleared the entire Vientiane-Luang Prabang highway
of rebel concentrations.

BONN, Germany W—West Germany told the United
States Thursday it would pay about a billion dollars in j
a single payment toward easing the drain on American
dollar and gold reserves.
The proposal was made by Economics Minister Lud- l
wig Erhard to United States Ambassador Walter C.
Dowling. Neither would say officially what the proposal
contained but informed sources said the total amount
would be about a billion dollars.
Informants said the Germans proposed to pay $587 j
million as prepayment of their postwar debt, which j
now totals $787 million. They reportedly asked that the
remaining $200 million be canceled as settlement for
German assets seized in the United States during World
War II.

LONDON (UPI)—Would you marry the same person
again?
The Daily Sketch put the question to its readers and
the answers came as a shock. .
The Sketch said replies from thousands of readers
—with wives outnumbering husbands 7-1—showed four
out of 10 women and three out of 10 men warted to
swap partners.
The newspaper said it also appeared that the more
children there were in a marriage, the more likely the
wife disliked her husband.
The length of marriages also counted. Twenty-one
years was the average length of the marriages of all
women who said they wanted to get rid of their present
I partners.
The danger age for women was between 49 and 56,
while for men it was between 16 and 24. The news-
paper said it appeared half the husbands between
those ages would not marry their wives again.
