Our Troopers
Getting Fat?
DURANT—Is the middle age spread catching the
Oklahoma State Highway patrol?
"Probably some of us," grinned dispatcher Paul
Oliver of the district office at Durant.
And that, explained Oliver, is one of the reasons
the tailoring firm of L. B. Battles of Oklahoma City
annually sends its tailors around to take measurements
of the troopers.
Battles makes the trooper uniforms and they keep
an annual record of the size of the troopers.
"We put on a little weight here and there," smiled
Oliver, "and by keeping annual records, the tailor has
a pretty good idea what is going to happen to us size-
wise over the lifespan of the next unifrom he makes
for us.”
Tuesday, all of the troopers in the 13-county Durant
district turned up to be measured.
