Rural Neighbors EH met
May 20 for a covered dish lun-
cheon in the home of Lolita
Nuernberger, 2101 Carolina,
with Clara Forsythe assisting.
Attending were 21 members
and 4 guests, Betty Miller.
Marie Lock. Dorothy Everly
and Elizabeth Parker.
Joyce Hickey presided over
the business meeting. Myrtle
Brown gave the devotional on
faith which she said has both
an active and passive side.
She then told the story of "The
True Believer”. After a song
and the flag salute. Nona Sue
Sheerer gave the lesson on de-
corating with sheets and other
fabrics. She noted that the
earliest uses of fabrics were in
the tapestries in castles where
they were used for their beau-
ty but also for their warmth in
cutting out drafts.
The decoration fabrics are
usually heavier than sheets,
they are extra wide and the
patterns match at the sel-
vages. Sheets are more econo-
mical. take less trimming and
hemming, and most are easy
care, however, some of the de-
signs may be off grain or the
designs may not match.
She urged buying an extra
sheet if the patterns are large,
since it is hard to match diffe-
rent dye lots. She showed cur-
tains and ruffled skirts made
from pillowcases and window
shades and round tablecloths
made from sheets.
