The 107 families had been living
in crowded tent-like quarters. Their
new homes had concrete floors, a
lean-to which provided toilet and
kitchen facilities — indeed a lux-
urious home comparatively.
When Maj. Morse left Vietnam in
February more than 50 houses were
completed. He has late reports that
by May 1, 100 of the houses had
been completed.
The community also has a dis-
pensary, the funds for which were
provided by the Gadsden 'Ala. I
l Lions club, three wells and small
schools.
The latest report from Gadsden,
Ala., is that $15,451 has been rais-
ed. This includes $500 from the
Gadsden Lions club for the dispen-
sary and $587 from the East Gads-
den Lions club. A listing of con-
tributions show that organizations,
firms, labor unions, Sunday School
classes and individuals were among
the donors.
