OLD SOL and the
Poisoning Program Checks
THE BOLL WEEVILS
The poisoning program helped by the rays of Old Sol beating down
at about 104 degrees on the cotton fields of Grady county have definitely
put a check on the boll weevil menace.
A number of farmers who have poisoned twice report that they can
find no weevils in their fields. Many farmers have used a heavy poison
program for the first dose and a light booster shot for the second go-over
' and find no trace of the weevil.
If the present dry weather continues for another ten days there
Is little likelihood of a serious weevil infestation in this county. The pru-
dent plan for ail cotton growers is to watch their fields closely and on the
first indication of weevil infestation is to use poison on their fields. Ano-
ther excellent check on the weevils is frequent cultivation. A boll weevil
grub can't live under soil covering of a few inches with the temperature
around a hundred degrees.
We carry a complete line of poisons and the manager of our mill
Emmett Watson is at your service to help you check weevils in your fields.
Call him and if he is not busy he will be glad to help you find traces of
weevils.
