rcapjwrtionment commission act-
ing only 24 hours after it was ne-
sted approved the ‘'Model C”
plan of redisti icting tlie Oklaho-
ma legislature Saturday night
It was the rcapportionate
method recommended by a special
thiee judge federal court in its rul-
ing last summer
While the plan would not go into
effect until the 1964 elections the
commission acted speedily to put
its order into effect before the
term of J Ilowaid Edmond-
son and other office holders end
in January
The action came after one
member of the three-man commis-
sion aiting Atty Gen Fred Han-
sen refused to serve on tlie board
cutting the commission member
ship to state tieasurcr Bill Buik-
liait and secietary of state Wil
liam thnstian
Burkhart and thnstian whe
h-d adjourned earlier met again
and approved the equal population
plan and filed it with the sceic-
tary of state
The formula would give Oklaho-
ma County eight senators and 19
house members and Tulsa County
seven senators and 15 representa-
tives Comanche County would
have two senatois and four repre
sentatives At present no county
has more than one senator and
seven leprcsentativcs
