The 26th Annual Chickasha Firefighter Chili Cook-
off and Car Show was held on Saturday with a record
turnout. There were 70 vehicles entered in the car
show this year, which were estimated at a total worth
of 2 million dollars. Sixteen cookers participated in
the cook-off with 24 total chili dishes.
"We are extremely grateful to our community lor
the support they have shown to us in helping us raise
money for some charities that mean a lot to our tire
department and our city," said firefighter David
Brown, chairman of the chili cook-off. The event
was a great success not only with fundraising, but it
also allowed for us to come together and have a lot of
fun with our friends and neighbors
Brown, along with Firefighters Ricky Bums and
Richard Prather spent many hours promoting the
event this year during time when off-duty. The three
men appeared on the morning news shows on KOKH
channel 25 and KAUT channel 43 to promote the
event. Prather also served as chair of the car show

"Thank you to all the media outlets who provided
advertising for the event," said Prather. The event
would not have been near the success we saw if not
for the promotion from our many friends in the press.
The firefighters raised about $4,000, with additional
support coming from the Freemasons and other
groups who provided sponsorships. Donations are
