At the meeting, County
Assessor Bari Firestone sub-
mitted information about Pic-
tometry Visual Intelligence.
She informed the commis-
sioners that it is an excellent
tool for seeking measurements
as well as locations, and is
updated every two years.
"Pictometry Visual Intelli-
gence is an aerial view of the
county and what is in the
county," she said.
While the cost of such
equipment is high. Firestone
said several municipalities and
other entities have expressed
interest in using the Pictome-
try system.
"Not only would the Asses-
sors office benefit, but also
911. and realtors," she said.
Firestone said once the pro-

were even more modest. The newest report on the economy,
released Friday by the Labor Department, suggested that the
jobs market got on to a slower start in 2007 yet still remains in
decent shape. The more subdued job growth - 110,000 posi-
tions - is consistent with the expectation that growth in the
economy as a whole will moderate this year.
The tally of new jobs added last month fell short of econ-
omists expectations for a gain of around 150,000 positions
Analysts also had said they anticipated that the overall
unemployment rate would have held steady at 4.5 percent,
the rate that was registered in December.

The pictometry can detect
properties not previously
accounted for in tax records,
evaluate sites for new develop-
ment and proximity to neigh-
borhoods, schools, and other
structures, measure the length,
width, and height of any fea-
ture in an image, and save crit-
ical time by preplanning best
response for crimes in
progress, fires. and vehicle
accidents. Firestone said she
would like to meet with other
businesses to see if what the
Pictometry system has to offer
is something they would be
willing to invest in.
The commissioners told her
the system was something
they were interested in learn-
ing more about, so she should
hold the meetings and let them
know what the results were.
