A special flower girl for a special ceremony
Bv JENESE snow msd

Her dress was blue, just like her
eyes, with little flowers on the shoul-
ders. Her basket was filled with daisies
and tied with a yellow and purple rib-
bon. And there was no doubt Lila Mor-
gan was the prettiest 92-year-old
flower girl ever to toss petals at a wed-
ding.
Actually, Morgan will be 92 in
August. But at 72 or 92, she has had a
habit of not letting too much get by her
- especially a friendship.
For the past three years. Morgan has
lived at Christian Care Retirement Vil-
lage in Chickasha. Not long after her
arrival, one of the nurses, Ben Johnson,
took her into his heart.
“He just fell in love with my moth-
er." said daughter Marie Martin.
Martin and her husband, Dick, live
in Chickasha, and came to appreciate
Johnson as much as Morgan did.
And while their friendship kindled,
romance blossomed between Johnson
and another CCRV nurse, Sherree Ted-
der. who had also taken to Morgan.
"They're both just so sweet,” said
Martin.
Eventually, Johnson and Tedder
moved on to take positions in Moore.
Johnson, who was living in Chickasha,
made a point to visit Morgan regularly,
feeding her dinner if it was in the
evening, and washing her face for her,
touching it up with moisturizer. He
was there whenever she had to make a
race for the District 47 State
House of Representatives
seat.
The only Democrat vying
for the office, currently held
by Republican Susan Win-
chester. Rivas looks forward
to bringing back to Chick-
asha the prosperity his par-
ents had told him about.
“There used to be all kinds
of businesses here,” he said.
“Over the last few years
we’ve seen a decline.”
Rivas stated that commu-

lence aimed at his 20-year-old girlfriend,
who had filed a protective order. Hunter
was arrested on May 19,2002. Just prior to
his arrest Hunter had stalked the victim for
two days at her job. When police arrested
Hunter he was carrying a .38 revolver.

pensation and court costs.
