Everyone can look ahead now.
No doubt the most repetitive question at
Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. Neb.. Saturday
night was the exact one that was lobbed over and
oxer at Memorial Stadium in Norman. Okla.
In Lincoln: "Were you guys looking ahead to
next week s game with Oklahoma?"
In Norman: "Were you guys looking ahead to
next week’s game with Nebraska?"
I he answer in Lincoln: "No, not at all."
Ihe Norman version: "No, not at all."
I hat said, it’s now not only OK for Nebraska
to think and talk about Oklahoma, and vice versa,
it's very much required.
"We won today, now it's in the past," said
Ol s Rocky Calmus no more than 30 minutes
alter the Sooners’ game Saturday. "We're ready
to move on to the big one."
I he big one, as if any reminders are required,
comes live days from this morning. No. 2 Okla-
homa vs. No. 3 Nebraska. The two powerhouses
meet at 11 a m. in Lincoln, both undefeated. both

Part of the fun of high school football play-
offs is figuring district finishers in order and pro-
tecting possible playoff games.
Coaches and players do it, fans do it, and so
do sports writers.
I his year. Chickasha can do very little to
improve its playoff position in the final two
weeks Sull, the Fightin' Chicks need to collect
as many marginal points as possible (15 a game,
or 30 total)against Noble and Capitol Hill.
What follows is what the extensive sports
staff of the Chickasha Express-Star came up
with There are no guarantees other than Chick-
asha will be in the playoffs.
Chickasha and Carl Albert could revisit a
two-game rivalry that the Chickasha faithful
wont forget any time soon. In 1997 and 1998.
I arl Albert defeated Chickasha in championship
games, a fact that is still hard to accept in certain
quarters.
But this year the Chickasha vs. Carl Albert
battle, if it happens, most likely will come in the
first round at Chickasha. For the game to take
place. ( hickasha would have to finish second in
its district. Carl Albert seems headed to a third
place finish in Dist. 5A-2.
Another possible matchup is Chickasha get-
ting a second shot at Duncan this year. If Chick-
asha finishes first and Duncan third, the two
teams could meet at Chickasha in week two of
playoffs.
