mer Governor James E. Ferguson
husband of the governor issued a
challenge on behalf of his wife to
Moody stipulating that in the event
Moody beat Mrs. Ferguson by at
least one vote she would realgu
immediately provided Moody would
resign' JT he was beaten by 25000
votes..
Moody - accepted the challenge
without delay and when the outcome
of the primary compilation became
evident word from "H was await
ed with great interest . Eearly this
week she issued a statement declar-
ing "her purpose to resign about
November f - after she - shall hava
wound ' up unfinished business. - She
also Issued a- call lor a special ses-
sion of the legislature on September
13 to consider validation of road
bonds and to investigate any de-
partment of state deemed advisable."
Since this declaration' by Governor
Ferguson numerous democratic
county organisations and individuals
throughout the state have urged or
announced their purpose to urge the
governor to retire' immediately- to
private . life. Many of the democratic-
organisations will vote on
this demand - Saturday when - they
convene to name delegates to the
state democratic convention. -
