DEAR ABBY: It's 2 o’clock in the morning and I've torn
up three letters to you, but I'm mailing this one because I
need help.
Over a year ago I met the finest man I've ever known. We
became the best of friends. I don't know how it happened,
but I fell in love with him, which is outrageous because he is
happily married.
At first I tried to laugh it off. Then I tried avoiding him.
but we work for the same company and I see him every day.
I'm single, and I tried dating several men. but my mind
was always on him. I m not a 17 year old school girl I'm old
enough to know better I'm known as a very intelligent, ra
tional person. Im often called the "Dear Abby'' of the
office because everyone comes to me for advice
I have no one to talk to. If this man knew how I felt, he'd
be -.hocked And his wife would never believe it. She s a dear
friend of mine. I never could come between a man and his
wife. I wasn't raised that way, but I love him. Abby, and my
only solution is to leave town.
I've lived here for years and I love my job and my friends.
I don t want to leave. I know this sounds like a soap opera,
but it's true. Please help me.

DEAR ACHING: You have built a strong physical attrac-
tion into a one aided love affair through fantasizing. But
what's been built can be dismantled Don't run away. You'll
only take your aching heart with you. Find a competent
counselor Ipsychologist or psychiatrist! with whom you can
talk freely about your feelings and the futility of loving
another woman's husband
Please take my advice, then write again in six months and
tell me how you're doing. I cure.

DEAR POLLY I want to tell Mrs F C G how I have
cleaned the smoked brick around my fireplace for the past
several years. I dip a brush in brown cider vinegar and
scrub the bricks starting at the bottom and doing just one
at a time Blot with a sponge or paper towel and then rub
with a towel that has been dipped in clear water

Color won’t stay put
By Polly Cramer
POLLY’S PROBLEM
DEAR POLLY — My Pet Peeve and problem are
one and the same How does one make colors that
"leak" colorfast’’ I have tried using salt, white
vinegar and baking soda but none helped I really
think T-shirts are the worst offenders. BERLE
DEAR BERLE — As far as I know there is really
no sure cure for this annoying problem Sometimes
the excess color seems to be washed out after
several washings. Never soak garments with colors
that "run,", wash the in-separately in cool suds and
rinse in cold water. Do this job as quickly as possible
and let the garment get almost dry before Ironing
Otherwise your ironing board cover will be a
rainbow of colors — POLLY
