Lab Reports
Due Today In
Shootings
SPRINGER (UPI) — Labor-
atory reports were expected to-
day in the investigation of the
shooting deaths of a Carter
County woman and her two
children.
Bodies of Mrs. Sylvia Gilbert.
32, Randy Gilbert, 8 months,
and Roberta her step - daugh-
ter, Burks, 3, were found lying
on a bed at their home about
one-half mile west of Springer
1 late Monday. Each had been
shot in the head.
Officers said a 22-caliber pis-
tol was beside Mrs. Gilbert’s
body. Paraffin tests were plan-
ned to determine whether she
had fired a gun recently.
A county medical examiner
said the three had been dead
more than two hours before he
arrived.
Mrs. Gilbert’s estranged hus-
band, Dallas Gilbert, 44, told
। officers he found the bodies.
Officers said Mrs. Gilbert had

asked Monday to remove the s
name of Secretary of State :
James Bullard from the ballot
I for state treasurer.
William J. Stafford, Demo- j
cratic candidate for treasurer,
said in his petition to the court
that the constitution prohibits
either the secretary of state or
treasurer from succeeding him-
self. He contended Bullard
would be succeeding himself if
elected treasurer, because the
secretary of state and treasur-1
