OKLAHOMA CITY TIMES
Monday, Nov. 21, 1966 3
So this Thanksgiving Day weekend, no matter what
state you live in, it’s a good idea to stop taking familiar
surroundings—or anything else—for granted.
Take a tip from an independent study of police
accident reports in Michigan. Out of a total of 109
people who died in Michigan traffic accidents over the
Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day weekends,
79 died within 25 miles of their homes. Over 70%!
Also, as you probably know, many fatal accidents
involve drinking drivers. So a little common sense can
save your life.
Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. But it’s no time
to let down your guard.

strikes were called in to hammer at the attacking Com-
munists.
The action, part of Operation Paul Revere 4, raged
22 miles southwest of the U. S. Army Special Forces
camp at Plei Djereng, scene of North Vietnamese probes
and skirmishes for more than a week.
Ground action was reported light elsewhere, but Ko-
rean marines operating near the South China Sea coast
reported killing 91 Viet Cong Sunday in a 21 -hour battle
seven miles northwest of Quang Ngai City. A Korean
spokesman said the marines clashed with a reinforced
Viet Cong company of 200 men, the largest enemy unit
they have met since moving into the area last August.
In the central highlands fighting, a U. S. spokesman
said the North Vietnamese hit the American cavalrymen
initially from all sides.
The spokesman said contact diminished Monday aft-
ernoon but was still continuing at last report. He said U.
S. casualties so far were light.

even if it doesn’t happen to send up a trouble signal.
Other Drivers. Just because you haven’t had any
close calls in traffic recently is no reason to think that
other drivers are getting smarter. Be ready for any-
thing. Plan ahead for dangerous situations, such as
people getting out of cars from the wrong side or cars
going through stop signs.

Africans import
European Lions
MARSEILLE (AP) — A
circus in Africa has import-
ed lions from Europe. The
Marseille Zoo loaded 10
lions, 10 pythons, a panther
and other wild beasts aboard
an African-bound ship for
delivery to a Canadian
circus that is starting an
African tour.
The circus said less of the
animals were being caught
in Africa these days and Eu-
ropean zoos were the best
source of supply.
