Richard Edward Cox, 32, Indianapolis, lad., was sen-
tenced Wednesday to four years in federal prison on a
charge of transporting a forged $75 check from Bellgar-
den, Calif. to Kingfisher. Cox was sentenced after plead-
ing guilty before U. S. District Judge Luther Eubanks.

The Oklahoma County Community Action Program
launched a search Wednesday for staff members for the
new legal services program for the poor.
The Legal Aid Society board of directors will make
the selections for the positions, Walter Mason, director
of Community Action Programs, said.
The society hopes to fill staff positions by September
28. Mason said applications should be sent to R. B. Holt-
zendorff, 1619 First National Bank Building, Oklahoma
‘open positions include those of director, with pay of
31,250 a month; assistant director, at 3916.66 a month;
five staff attorneys, with pay ranging from 3772.73 to
3985.33 a month, and several others.
Mason said the director, assistant director and the
staff attorneys all must be lawyers and licensed to prac-
tice in Oklahoma.

Date in City
Delbert Harmon Garmon, accused of kidnaping 19
persons last year in an 18-day flight through Oklahoma
and Texas, will be arraigned Friday morning before U.
S. District Judge Luther Eubanks on one of the kidnap-
ing counts.
Garmon, 27, is currently serving a 5-year kidnaping
sentence in the federal prison in Leavenworth. He was
sentenced last summer in Dallas for forcing Jesse El-
bert Dugan to drive him from near Davidson to Dallas.
The kidnaper will be returned here by U. S. mar-
shals. He is charged with kidnaping Mr. and Mrs. L. J.
Prince, Wichita Falls, and forcing them to drive him to
Oklahoma City.

Trial Action Delayed
A motion for a new trial for former bank president
Levi Swingle, convicted last month in federal court of
misapplying funds of Cushing’s First National Bank,
may not he heard until sometime in October.
The new trial motion was filed earlier this week be-
fore U. S. District Judge Luther Bohan on after Swingle
had been found guilty on 44 counts of a grand jury in-
dictment.
Judge Bohanon gave the government 36 dayn in
which to file a response to the new trial motion and a
ruling will not be made until the court rules on the gov-
ernment's response.
