MARION, Ind. (AP) —
A pretty girl sits huddled
in a bloodstained bathrobe.
She tells of a boy friend’s
heroism as doctors and
nurses shuttle new casual-
ties into a crowded hospi-
tal corridor.
In another room at Mar-
ion General Hsopital, a
young factory worker in-
quires about his wife. He
wears only muddy blue
jeans. His feet are bare
against the cold floor.
When the twister struck
the southern half of this
city of 40,000, most resi-
dents were watching tele-
vision or preparing for
bed.
Many of the injured pad
through hospital halls in
night clothes and slippers.
The corridors are filled

Deanna Wyant, 19, a

her boy friend in her fami-

town and had heard the
tornado alert on the ra-

Her friend, Don Dalton,
