FRANK LONG FUND
One thousand dollars is the
mark get by the members of the
"Oklahoma in Brazil club” to be rais-
ed before 12 o'clock Friday night
April 21 Over one-half of this
amount has already been subscribed
by the students and faculty members
of the University as indicated by the
number of blue squares on the indi-
cator in Administration Hall
Many of the enterprises carried on
by the students are of a more or less
selfish nature because they are kept
up for the purose of self amusement
hut the aiding of an alumnus in carry-
ing the message of christanity into
a South American country is of grea
importance for no one can ever tell
how much good this man will do in
the far away country He has sacri-
ficed his friends native country
everything to take up this work
Last year the University of Okla-
homa contributed over $600 toward
his support In comparison to the
number of students enrolled the Uni-
versity contributed far more to mis-
sionary work than did many schools
who have a much larger enrollment
But Ihe students here have a per-
sonal interest in Frank Long for
while there are no students in the
’ University who were herb when Long
was on the campus many of the fac-
ulty members and alumni who are
now living in Norman remember the
hard working student who went
through the University on his re-
sources This year the Y M C A and Y
W C A have decided to try to raise
at least $1000 toward Long's sup-
port for next year Of every student
and faculty member will contribute a
small amount this sum can be raised
without difficulty

Pleasant
It surely is a pleasant thing
To wake up with a jerk
And hear the durned alarm clock sing
"Get up and go to work”
— Luke McLuke
Another very pleasant thing
Is to go home late at night
And turn the button 'round nine times
And not turn on the light

His Last Week
The month had gloomily begun
For Willie Weeks a poor man's Sun
He was beset with bill and dun
And h?d but very little Mon
“This cash” said he “won't pay my
dues”
“I’ve nothing here but ones and Tues
your contribution do not turn them
down or put them off until tomorrow
they are doing this work for the good
of the University and not for any per-
sonal gain
Help Frank Long with his work
n South America
A bright thought struck him and he
said
“Tho rich Miss Goldrocks I will
Wed"
But when he paid his court to her
She lisped but firmly said
“No Thur”
“Alas!” said he "then I must die"—
His soul went where they say souls
