Now that the team from the
school that we have the least cause
to love is comming down to play
a game of foot ball with us lets try
and forget that they treated our
base ball team with a lack of com-
mon decency when they were up
there last spring also that the
specimen of the Darw' inian theory
who repre-sented them on the
Territorial Atheletic board acted
in a manner that would not be
countenanced by one half of the
students of that school if they
knew the the details of the under-
handedness that nearly kept the
University out of the Track Meet
From the letter that Mr' Bently
wrote down here last week one can
feel safe in saying that in the
future the atheletics of the CS N
will be as clean and the manage-
ment will be as considerate of the
fact that another team are strangers
when up there as we have ever
been
The - Sooner doesnt assimalate
with completeness any reason why
we can not confine the antagonism
between the two schools to the
time between the blowing of the
first and thd last whistle tomorrow
afternoon And even durink this
time it does not seem advisable for
the entire student body to pick on
eleven men from up the State let
our team do most of the roasting
that is to be done the members
will move fast enough scorch the
children if they are in the road
Why can't the Gentlemen of the
two institutions mix after the game
and cement the good feeling thats
springing up of late The Sooller
is for begining now and giving it
a try
A story from Nebraska last week
that the University of Chicago was
trying to entice away a Nebraska
football player happened to carry
its own contradiction The player
inquestion was a colored man
While there is not even an unwrit-
ten law at the Midway college bar-
ring colored men from the athletic
teams it is well known the preced-
ent has practically become establish-
ed A few years ago a colored
football and baseball player of more
note than the Nebraska man in
question graduated from a Chicago
high school and sought to enter
the local university but learned he
would not be admitted to the foot-
ball or base ball team and went
elsewhere--Chicago Tribune
Byram McCreary captain of the
football team returned to school
Wednesday morning Mc has' en-
rolled and will immediately get in-
to his football work
