Dawkins said that until recently, he was
of initiatives. My office is gearing
up to provide more and more sup-

support when you’re dealing with
multiple disciplines.

are some tilings you remember
from when you were in that posi-
tion that you try to pass along?
Sedwick: I want to make the
assignments pertinent to their
needs. I allow some flexibility in
assignments so they can relate the
projects back to their discipline or
their career goals.
The Daily: When did you
know you wanted to be an admin-
istrator?
Sedwick: 1 knew I wanted to
work in higher education from
the time I was a sophomore in
college. 1 knew 1 wanted a Ph D.
I didn't get my Ph.D. at first I
got married and pursued the sup-
portive wife role before I started
back to get my Ph.D. What hap-
jiened is I became an administra-

an adjunct professor.
The Daily What are some
things you do when you're not
working or teaching.’
Sedwick: 1 have tennis shoes
— I run. 1 like to cook, and I like
to sew I er\joy the home and my
family 1 have two daughters: a
sophomore who is an accounting
major and a graduate second year
student at HSC (Health Sciences
Center) who is getting married.
The Daily What would you
say is the best way for students to
get media information?
Sedwick: I recommend what
my students read is the ( hronicle
of Higher Education. 1 mean, 1
read newspapers; 1 love the Wall
Street Journal and the New York
Thnes on Sundays. Just through
the Internet and networking. I'm a
big proponent of networking.

the President's Council president for Walker
Center. The President’s Council is a leader-

Walker Center does not have a specific

The Walker Adopt-an-Area volunteers

a check that was for a million

Sedwick: We have so many
