North Norfolk, were hosts to their
niece, Miss Fannie Mae Oates of
Little Rock, Ark., who recently at-
tended the Annual Laymen’s meet-
ing at Vernon AME Church, June
27-29.
Among the many courtesies ex-
tended Miss Oates, were a hrunch
in the home of Mrs. Ruhv Northing-
ton, with guests. Mrs. Viola Wallace,
Mr. Lloyd Donley. Mr. Wilbur
Northington. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Eaton and Mrs Betty Milton; a tour
of the city of Tulsa which included
a scenic view of Tulsa from Reser-
voir Hill: a tour of the airport and
the Oral Roberts Abundant Life
building.
Also attending the meeting were
Mrs. J. V. Brownfield. Laura John-
son. and Mrs. D. N. Clayton.
Miss Oates left for her home in
Little Rock. Ark. on Monday after-
noon.

sighs of relief ... to be home again ... or renewed deter-

his wife Jennelle and their daughter Angela) accompanied
bv Jennell’s mother. Just completed the tour of principal
cities of Germany, France. Denmark, Belgium and the
Netherlands. Will go on to Rome. Austria. Luxinnburg,
Switzerland. Monico \elma Barrens.
A miniature travelogue from Alma Marsh . . . who is
an inveterate traveler. Written from Hotel King George in
San Francisco . . . Alma says she was not too impressed
with the Fair in Seattle. She found the U. 8. Science Dept,
and the Homes of Tomorrow most interesting. She had
seen the 600 Space Needle in Rotterdam. Holland and had
dined on top in the cafe when she was in Europe in 1960.
More thrilling were her visits with old friends and acquaint-
ances . . . beginning with ten days in Omaha with Dr. and
Mrs. Aaron McMillon, both former school and college class-
mates from her home town in Texas . . . Seeing too the
Harry Wards. (Portland) and on to look up Capt. I;.wrest
Prichett in San Francisco and Viola Holloway in San ner-
nadino ... to Santa Barbara to see the Charles Roberts ;md
on to L. A. to see her niece . . . Minnie Francis ( wBe
Homer Woods in Ogden and Connie Moore and Jes#|e W.
Maxwell in Denver. Her vacation will not terminate until .
about Oct. 15th.

Home . . . for the traditional reunion on July 1th were
Dr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bryant. II (Umisville) with their .
daughters. Skipper was in summer camp. Dr. and Mrs.
B. C. Brvant Sr., were hosts to a large numlier of family
friends .... for a picnic and fireworks display on Wednes-
day evening.

Mrs Lucille A. Troupe, owner of

Troupe’s Beauty Salon attended
the reunion of former students of
her alma mater. Western Univer-
sity, which was held in Kansas City,
Mo.
Mrs. Troupe was entertained by
Madam Pope of the Hair Weev
Center, and was houseguest of
Mrs. Alma Hardy Martin, former
Tulsans and Mrs Geneva Troutt
Fletcher, a former student and
Okmulgeean.
Accompaning Mrs. Troupe to
Kansas City were Mrs. Esther
Brown, president of the Willing
Workers Club, and Mrs. Maxine
Myers, member of the Jocularity
Club and student of the college.
The annual meeting of the Mid-
west States Association of Elks
lodges representing nine states was
termed one of the most succesful
at the close of the session June 29 in
Oklahoma Citv. A. J Kirkpatrick
is president. Victor Ixidge and Vic-
tor Temple were hosts to the dele-
gates.
The oratorical contest was won bv
a Muskogee lad. the second time in
the last two years A Muskogee girl
won the contest in 1961.
