RYAN — This Jefferson County town is suffer-
ing water problems officials say resu|t from dwin-
dling well supplies, aging pipes and continued
cold weather.
City Manager George Hicks said there isn't
enough water to fight any kind of major fire.
Ryan High School was forced to close Monday
because of a lack of water.
Two 5,000-galion county tank trucks have been
hauling water from Waurika, Hicks said.

The senator, who announced last Friday he
doesn’t plan to seek re-election in 1980, also has
initiated a number of personnel changes in his
state office network.
Ron Earnest, 24. will serve as a field represent-
ative for Bellmon in southwestern Oklahoma.
A native of Mountain View, Earnest previously
was on Bellmon's staff from July of 1976 until
April of last year as a field represenative and ag-
riculture legislative assistant before joining the
campaign staff of unsuccessful GOP senatorial
candidate Robert Kamm.
Don Ferrell. 50, will transfer from Bellmon's
Ada office to the Tulsa office where he will handle
special assignments for the senator and act as a
liaison with the Oklahoma Legislature.
Ferrell, the publisher of the Lincoln County
News in Chandler, has been on Bellmon's staff
since 1975.
Also announced was the move of Bellmon aide
Brad Gungoll, 25. from the senator's Washington
office where he was an agriculture legislative
assistant, to Bellmon's Oklahoma City office.
Jim Shearer, 24. is joining Bellmon's staff as a
field representative for southeastern Oklahoma. A
graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he
earned a degree in advertising and public rela-
tions, Shearer was campaign manager for unsuc-
cessful GOP gubernatorial candidate Ron Shotts
and previously served as executive director of the
Moore Chamber of Commerce.
Linda Sponsler, 27, will be shifting from Wash-
ington to the senator's Tulsa office to serve as a
field representative for northeastern Oklahoma.
She has been a staff member since 1974.

Sen. Henry Bellmon has announced a series of
changes in his Washington and state offices this
week as the 96th Congress prepared to convene.
Bellmon. who has shared joint state offices with
former Sen. Dewey Bartlett, said the three offices
|. operated under* Bartlett's Senate allowance have
been closed. Included were the offices in Ada.
