House Accepts Contract
The House of Representatives has accepted a con-
tract for installation of an electronic roll-call machine.
House Speaker Rex Privett announced the contract
Thursday.
The state will pay 827,550 for Installation of the de-
ADA—Former Marine Randall Herrod, hailed as a
hero after he was cleared of killing Vietnamese civilians
in a much-publicized Vietnam trial, has been given a
two-year deferred sentence after pleading guilty to forg-
ing a |50 check.
Herrod, formerly of Calvin, pleaded guilty Thursday
to a charge of forging the signatures of a former class-
mate and the classmate’s mother on a check last sum-
mer. Associate Dist. Judge Calvert Cannon imposed the
deferred sentence which will allow the ex-Marine to
dear his record if he avoids any law violations during
the period.
A military court-martial acquitted Herrod two years
ago of murder in the deaths of 16 Vietnamese dvilians,
after several Oklahoma lawyers, including State Sen.
Gene Stipe, went to Vietnam to defend him.
