NORMAN Okla Dec 20— (Spe-
cial) — WNAD University of Oklaho-
ma broadcasting station is sending
out regular programs according to
Otto W Walter engineering faculty
member who is in charge of the sta-
tion The university school of fine arts has
charge of the Monday and Wednesday
evening programs Two special wire
circuits have been run to the fine
arts building in order that two studios
may be used as broadcasting stations
A summary of university news items
is broadcast from 10 to 10:30 p m
every day except Saturday and Sun-
day Sunday Programs Arranged
Sunday programs are arranged from
time to time although no regular
schedule is followed The university
orchestra program given Sunday after-
noons will be broadcast Walters said
About three thousand persons heard
reports of the football games broadcast
by WNAD this season Walters said
Fully 500 letters were received ex-
pressing appreciation of the service
afforded radio fans About 100 of these
were from Oklahomans while many
letters were written by persons out-
side the state Letters were received
by the station from various states in-
cluding Michigan Illinois and Minne-
sota Letters Come Far
Letters also came from Honduras
and one from a radio fan stationed
on a destroyer in the Gulf of Mexico
The broadcasting set was built by
the university school of electrical engi-
neering at about onc-tentli the cost
of a similar set on the market Con-
stant experimental work is being
carried on in the laboratory in an effort
to make new improvements and dis-
coveries in the broadcasting field
PROSPECTS BRIGHT FOR
O U WRESTLING SQUAD
NORMAN Okla Dec 20— (Spe-
cial) — Wrestling prospects for the
University of Oklahoma arc better this
year than they have been since thu
sport was introduced here in 1919
Fight letter men are available with all
weights represented except the 135
pound and heavyweight classes
Captain Dewey Walden MARI-
ETTA who wrestled last season in
the heavyweight class undefeated has
trained down to the 175 pound weight
this fall and will represent the Sooncrs
in this class unless he is forced to
take on the unlimited opponents be-
cause of failure to develop a Sooner
heavy
Ten Girls Qualify for
Swimming Club at 0 U
NORM AN Okla Dec 20— (Spc-
cial) — ten girls qualified for member-
ship in the Ducks' club University of
Oklahoma swimming organization for
girls in the December tryouts accord-
ing to Fidelia Wheatley president
Those who qualified were Velma

NORMAN Okla Dec 20—(Spc-
cial) — Cyrus Edward Dallin interna-
tionally know’ll contemporary authority
on Indian sculpture is allowing pic-
tures of some of his work to be used in
the Sooner University of Oklahoma
annual yearbook Dallin is the sculptor
of “The Scout” “The End of the
Trail” and “The Great Spirit”
“The idea of the Indian art work
being used exclusively in the Sooner
is to link the glorious and colorful
past of Oklahoma and its significance
with the year 1923-24 in the Univer-
sity of Oklahoma” Bert Kemmerer
editor of the Sooner said “Our re-
search with the assistance of Dr E E
Dale professor of history and author-
ity on the early west is allowing an
authentic depiction of the history of
Oklahoma in the pictures in the 1921
Sooner”

musicians were initiated into Kappa
Kappa Psi honorary band fraternity
recently according to Eugene Spring-

cial) — Sooner cage drill is progressing
steadily with more than 30 men out for
the winter sport
Coach Hugh V McDermott cage
mentor is introducing a new style
of basketball into Sooncrland The
long pass which has featured the at-
tack of the Sooncrs for years has been
abandoned This year the Sooners will
use the short pass and pivot which
Kansas Drake and Missouri have used
so effectively
Letter Men on Squad
Eight Sooner basketball letter men
arc available this season for the squad
as well as several youngsters from the
1922 freshman squad with unusual
promise
The letter men arc led by Captain
Alpha Johnson HELENA center or
guard who is a third year man and
will probably work at guard this sea-
son Dixie Gilmer HELENA and
Wilford Morse BLACKWELL are
two other third year men who will be
available Gilmer is a fonvard and
Morse is either fonvard or guard
Schedule Almost Complete
Second year men are Fred Wallace

The 1924 schedule is virtually com-
plete although there are two or three
dates which might yet be changed Mc-
Dermott said The round robin sched-
ule of the Missouri Valley conference
takes up 16 of the 18 games allow’cd
and the Sooners probably will schedule
the Oklahoma Aggies for the non-conference
games this year
