Administration leaders worked Monday toward house passage
of the voluminous tax assessment bill intended to stabilize valua-
i tlons and block escape of taxable property from the rolls.
In committee of the whole, the house plodded a third of the |
i way through the measure's 84 sections Friday and Harold Free-
man, floor leader, said it would be completed Monday with the,
hope of sending it to the senate.* ■■1 ... ■
After adopting provisions designed —
to assess tome'exempt income-pro- 1 OSt I OUT

major change in the bill, which Rep- ww
resen tative D & Collina, Alfalfa coun- f-f
ty. said would yeatore the May 31 UCIIOV

' producer The bill would have made
it January 1.
Second on the calendar was a meas-
ure to tighten personal property tax
collections, and an effort was to be
made, to push it to the senate along
i with the assessment bill.
If that is accomplished the house
then will have before it the adminis-
tration's bill to vitalize the budget
balancing amendment, setting up pro-
visions for handling the funds in ac-
cordance with tl»e people’s mandate

ment
Up for final house passage was the
governor'* bill for confiscation of boot-
leggers’ property and sale by the sher-
iff. Some members expected it to go
to conference committee for altera-
tion because of a provision which
might be interpreted to mean that
| confiscated liquor also must be sold. r,„. .
