Snow could sneak into northwest Oklahoma over-
night, but no really wintry swat is expected, the weath-
erman said today.
A hazardous driving watch was issued for the Pan-
handle, because it appears possible that moderate snow
or snow laced with rain could develop tonight and Satur-
day.
Rain and showers are expected to slosh eastward
across the state Saturday amid general cloudiness. Okla-
homa City Is included in the rain possibility.
The weatherman confessed it is difficult to predict
the scope of the small storm because there is no clue yet
as to movement of the low expected to develop either in
southeast Colorado or northeast New Mexico.
Strong south winds ahead of the low will keep Okla-
homa’s dawn readings in the 30’s and 40’s for all but the
far northwest, the weatherman said.
But Saturday afternoon highs statewide should be
“much lower" than the balmy 50’s and 60 s building up
this afternoon, the weather bureau said.

Hataway said a neighbor

"The house was already

what happened in the ’68
campaign,” he said.
Sen. George S. Mc-
Govern unsuccessfully
sought the Democratic
presidential nomination.
During the interview,
Johnson disclosed that the
late President John F.
Kennedy, while a senator,
and his father, the late
Ambassador Joseph P.
Kennedy, were the first
men to urge him to seek
the presidency.
“In the fall of ’55 when I
was here at the ranch,
Sen. Kennedy's father, Joe
Kennedy, called me and he
said that he had talked to
Sen. John Kennedy and
that they had concluded
that they would like to sup-
port me for president and
they wanted the go-ahead
to do so. And I told them I
had no ambitions to be
president . . . the next
year in Chicago I was a
candidate."
The late Adlai E. Steven-
son won the nomination
that year.
Johnson also said that
despite the belief of the
American people that he
was “an extremely ambi-
tious man who sought pow-
er, who enjoyed using it
and whose greatest desire
was to occupy the top job
in American political life"
that he never wanted the
presidency.
He said he had “certain
serious disadvantages
which would ultimately
preclude my becoming the
—completing my term as
president as I would like to
complete it.”
He said these disadvan-
tages were "a general ina-
bility to stimulate, inspire
and unite all the people of
the country, which I think
is an essential function of
the presidency.
“Now I have never real-
ly believed that I was the
man to do that particular
job,” Johnson said. “I al-
wayi felt that
that I had was
big for me."
TTie former
said he had no regrets and
no second thoughts about
not running but “there's
some disappointment that
the results that I hoped
would flow from it—name-
ly peace in the world-
have not as yet come; but
I’m still hopeful."
Johnson said the timeta-
ble of his announcement
not to seek re-election was
contained
Johnson’s
May 1964.
In it,
"Yes, you’ve got to run
again. But if you do,
you’ve got to do it with the
understanding
the knowledge
months—three
three months
time you take
and that would make it
March 1968—you can say
to the people that . . .
you’re not going to suc-
ceed to another term."
March, 31, 1968, the day
he announced his decision
not to seek a second term,
Johnson noted, “was the
final day ... the end of
the three years, three
months.”
The interview, which
took place at the Johnson
ranch in Texas, was tjie
first of a series of televi-
sion interviews, on his po-
litical career. The former
president was paid but
CBS declined to say how
much.
