Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Rep. Denzil Garrison, Bartlesvilee, was elected minority floor leader of the House of Representatives as the Republican caucus here Thursday. With releatives watching solemnly from the balcony, 100 members of the state house of represenatives took the oath of office here at noon Thursday. This was all but but nine of the 119 members who will make up the membership of the house when it convens in January. Eight members were missing for some reason or other when the oath was given...The men are Vol Odom, Democrat, who sought re-election, and S. PatJohnston, Repulican who beat him by 21 votes in the November election. Both are from Wagoner. the house will decide when it convenes in January which of the men will get the position. Odom asked the state election board soon after the November election to recount the ballots, but the board referred the contest to the house because it is the final judge of its own membership.........Merriment extended into statements of Gov.-elect J. Howard Edmonson during his campaign, particularly to references to the "old guard."
